Potential Class Action Against Rfg Gains Momentum With Upcoming Roadshow

Five information sessions about it will be held this month.

A potential class action against Retail Food Group (RFG) is gaining momentum, as Corrs Chambers Westgarth prepares for a nationwide roadshow this month.

Current and former Michel’s Patisserie franchisees are being invited to five information sessions in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne, which are happening between 13 August and 26 August to address questions regarding the potential class action.

Corrs Chambers Westgarthfirst announced it is preparing actionagainst the Queensland-based franchisor in June, alleging that its conduct “caused franchisees (and other persons closely associated with franchisees) loss or damage”.

RFG, who has been contacted byQSR Mediafor official comment, earlier said that it has yet to be contacted by Corrs Chambers Westgarth “in relation to any potential class action”.

The news also comes after RFG's recent departure of Jessica Buchanan, its longest serving director, along witha recent article from The Age and The Sydney Morning Heraldwhich reported the franchisor having given Soliton a three-month ‘limited exclusivity’ offer, thus giving the latter exclusivity past its debt deadline of 31 October.
